They must winter down here. During the “snowpocalypse/big freeze” of 2021, our yard was teeming with them for a couple of days while they stripped the holly bushes of berries. For once I was actually glad we had those holly bushes! It was such a treat to watch them in the yard while we were ice-bound.
they are truly magical. I haven’t seen any for years! I wish thy would stay a little longer in our area but they seem elusive and perhaps it keeps them safer this way.
They came through a few years ago, however this is the first time I’ve seen them since. I remember that first time, there were two or three lined up on a branch, and one gave a berry to the bird beside it – so fun to see!
Walking With Eagles is a collection of original poems and photographs by Lindy Low Le Coq. A lifelong naturalist, amateur photographer and bird enthusiast, Lindy’s verse, composition and photographs open a window into the essence of her subjects. Her poems and photography reflect the rich natural wonders of the Pacific Northwest.
Bald Eagles mature over the course of five years. Walking With Eagles invites the reader to take a poetic and visual tour of this odyssey.

Thank you sweet sister!
Gorgeous birds, Lindy!
Thank you. It’s always a pleasure to see birds migrate through and enjoy the food in my yard!
I had 40 in my yard a couple days ago. They like our water feature.
What a wealth of Waxwings!!!
A nice way to describe those birds, Lindy
