Tina takes us back to an early Lens-Artists challenge and invites us to share photos that emphasize shape and design. It took me a while to determine what the difference is, since the two words are used to describe one another! Tina made it clear in her use of fantastic quotes and vivid examples you can see here.

Nature shaped the hummingbird, humans designed the hummingbird feeder, a fitting example of form follows function.

To catch the shape of a wave – capture the curl at the top of a Pacific Ocean breaker moving toward shore, is an absolute favorite photographic adventure for me! Every one is unique – like snowflakes.

The Gateway Arch, a 630 ft. (192 m) stainless steel monument in St. Louis, Missouri USA, is the world’s tallest arch. A design masterpiece. From semi-circles and arches, let’s move to circles.

Thrusting itself out of the warming damp earth, this Amanita muscaria, commonly known as the fly agaric, is a perfect round shape. We live on a round planet, circled by a round moon. Round is like a common denominator, with variations of course!

“The Wheel is officially called an “observation wheel” because it has gondolas for riders, instead of open-air seats like a Ferris wheel.”

Withing the circumference of a circle lives a star, like the Starfish I found washed ashore at Long Beach, WA, years ago. Many natural and manufactured designs emanate from the round shape. I’ll wrap-up this post with a man made design of our life source; the sun.

The St. Louis Ferris wheel was the one that was built for the 1893 Chicago world’s fair. https://www.architecture.org/online-resources/stories-of-chicago/chicagos-ferris-wheel-story
Jill, you are right, and I knew that. I have deleted that sentence from my post. Have you read the book, “Devil in the White City” by Eric Larson? It is a thrilling read!
Lindy, the curl of the ocean wave is stunning!
Thank you, Barbara. It is mesmerizing to watch waves!
Absolutely wonderful examples Lindy. All spot-on and each so unique. The ferris wheel reminded me that I used to absolutely LOVE rides like that and you couldn’t possibly pay me enough money to get on one today. A sad comment on enthusiasm vs caution!
Thank you, Tina. When my sisters and I went to ride that wheel, there was a private party that had reserved it for the night, so we didn’t go up. I’m pretty sure we will the next time we’re all in St. Louis together! Sometimes we throw caution to the wind!
Lindy, I really enjoyed the variety of designs in your beautiful images. The wave and the Ferris wheel are my favorites.
Thank you, Beth! I’m looking forward to your challenge next Saturday.
Lindy, what an awesome reply to this challenge. What struck me about the wave, is the color of the water in the wave’s crest. This is a very creative post.
