~ Lens Artists Photo Challenge #157 ~ Getting Away ~

Always, my favorite places to get away involve wilderness, nature, water, and the sense of tranquility I feel when I am away from cities, traffic and jostling crowds.

Long Beach Peninsula, Washington State ~ USA ~~~ Bald Eagle – Haliaeetus leucocephalus
Miller Lake, Central Oregon – USA
Cape Disappointment State Park – Ilwaco, Washington ~ USA
Odell Lake ~ Willamette Pass, Oregon ~ USA
Full moon setting – Long Beach Peninsula, Washington ~ USA

Wishing everyone safe travels. Please be kind and stay safe.🐾

  1. I can see why you love these dreamy places! So beautiful! But I’m wondering why one is called Cape Disappointment!!
Thanks for contributing to the challenge . . . And posting these marvelous photos.

    • Lindy Le Coq says:

Cape Disappointment was named by an English fur trader John Meares (1756?-1809) who was unable to find the entry to the Columbia River in 1788, and consequently named the north side of the embankment to express his chagrin. There is absolutely nothing disappointing about this lovely state park on the Washington coast USA.

  2. That’s such a wonderful closing image!
