  2. The first image looked at first glance like clouds. I guess your terminology ‘King Tide’ is what we call ‘Spring Tide’…… the name Spring has always bee confusing as they arrive every full moon.

      They are the same. I think we adopted the term King in order to differentiate these highest of tides from just spring to anytime the moon is either full or new and in Perigee. (Tides by Jonathan White is a comprehensive study – easy to read for all the technicalities!)
