This week Ann-Christine asks us to select one photograph that we “find important, meaningful and perhaps sends a message.” Though I usually attempt to remain upbeat no matter what is going on in the world around me, the political actions of the current US President leaves me too edgy to pretend everything is okay. It’s not, and I am extremely distressed. One slice of my dismay is the reversal of investment in and support for climate change mitigation. So, for this challenge I have selected this dramatic cloudy sunset photo to pair with one of my poems titled, Mayflies in March.

Dear Lindy – I am always happy you are here with us, sharing your beautiful world and thoughts. I am afraid the edginess you mention this time is hurting everyone and everything around us. Planet Earth – our home – for how long will you go on recomposing, trying to save the lives that belong to you? A great post and poem.
The effects of this inhumane person and his pack of poisonous “friends” and ideas is making it hard to sleep. What will have happened during my sleep this time? I don’t know how your laws work over there, but over here his behaviour would have brought him to prison.
Take care and live in the moment. ♥
Trump wants to be king, and the party he has gathered around him seems to be happy to accede. He is a frightening person and I have to make myself not watch news, and not get caught up in his rhetoric. Musk is a criminal too. They are trampling the laws of this country. At some point the young need to feel the pain and push back. I hope it doesn’t come too late. I am embarrassed at the people that are now “representing” the US in global negotiations. They do not reflect the beliefs and desires of the majority of US citizens. Not sure how this will end. Thank you for your support!
Thank you, Lindy, for being out there trying to explain. So many things are frightening right now. Not least so many people believing the atrocious lies from both Putin and Trump.
Dear Lindy, another beautiful and thoughtful post. Like Leya, above, I am losing sleep. I weep for Ukraine, for Gaza, for chaos in the federal government, and on and on. As I write this I have an oldies station on my earbuds, and the song is “Hold on.” The question is, “Can we? And for how long?”
Indeed Jill, how long will it take? The R party has completely folded to his bullying and only the Justice system is in his way. I wish I had a better sense of how this will all turn out. It is so not the country I grew up in.
Lindy, what an outstanding image and verses! I share those same concerns you expressed.
Thank you, Egídio. I wish I felt more positive, only the R party has collapsed and is doing Trumps bidding which leaves only the Judiciary which is doing its part, however he doing all he can to dismantled the rule of law. I wonder what it will take for this nation to rise and march en masse to save our democracy. It has to happen.
Lindy, you’re not alone.
An amazing image Lindy and I loved your verse, both very beautiful. Not so, the state of our world. I try to remember that history is cyclic and we are in a terribly challenging one right now. Hopefully the more dramatic the impacts the sooner the course will change.
Beautiful photo Lindy. Well done.
These four years will be more than just hard, not for the USA but also for the rest of the world.
I agree with your poem!
