Dale Chihuly has perfected the art of placing his glass sculpture within natural settings, to create a unique and lovely sense of balance and unity. Below is an example from a 2023 exhibit at the Missouri Botanical Gardens, St. Louis.
On my windswept treks along the Long Beach Peninsula, I have been fascinated by the intricate patterns that clumps of dune grass imprint upon surrounding sand. Eventually I started calling them Dune Runes; hidden messages, here today, gone tomorrow!
Flowers attract pollinators like butterflies and bees, who feed upon the nectar while pollinating the plant, perfect examples of symbiotic relationships in nature.
Bald Eagles (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) are opportunist and in their predatory largeness create a sense of power and dominance. They mate for life and work together to build their nests and raise their young. I felt fortunate to be trusted by this pair as I walked in their territory during spring, 2020.
I’ll close with a photo of Max & Daisy that I snapped just a couple days ago. The top of the couch is a favorite place to sleep and watch the world outside the window. Usually, if they’re both on top, they each take an end. This time, Max cuddled up with Daisy, and I couldn’t resist their happy harmony!
Lindy, beautiful examples of harmony! I really like the Dale Chihuly exhibit and the pair of Bald Eagles but Max and Daisy stole the show.
