~ Monochrome Monday + WPC – Weight(less) 2 ~
I’ve always loved the contrast of this shot of the huge steel ferry with a seagull suspended in the sky above.

~The Weightlessness of Being ~ Weekly Photo Challenge – Weight (less) ~
As I witness my father’s body diminish, his mind bend and his soul prepare to release,
I feel the gravity of life transforming — the weightlessness of being –the endurance of spirit.
Reflections in my pond with some shivers of ice on the surface.
This week, share a photo of something marked by its weight — or its air of weightlessness.http://Weight(less)

Brick or Stone ~ Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge
To celebrate our twenty-fifth wedding anniversary, in 1994 Creighton and I traveled to France to visit his kin. We were hosted by his cousin Catherine, and her husband Jean-François, who took us on a three week tour around the country to visit family and see sights.

Jean-François, Creighton and Catherine on Les Ramparts in Saint Malo. Bombed into smithereens during WWII, St. Malo has been painstakingly rebuilt.
These shots were taken with a cheap little point-and-shoot camera and have been stored in the photo albums I was diligent to keep until digital came along. Scanned and enhanced, they aren’t the best, but oh, the memories are. Hope we can visit again for our fiftieth in 2019.
~ Snow In The Valley ~ Tuesday Two by Two ~
It rarely snows here, so when I awoke this morning to the sight of large fluffy flakes drifting down — and staying — I did a little kid joy dance!
On our walk, Jello let me know she loves snow too as she romped in our safe field and I snapped some photos.

~ Monochrome Monday + WPC – Circle 2 ~
In the late 1970’s and early ’80’s, Creighton and I were avid fans of the Seattle Mariners baseball team. Whenever we could, we’d make the three hour trek to Seattle to attend games at the Kingdome. This shot is one I took looking up at the dome from the inside.
Sadly, the Kingdome was demolished by implosion in 2000.

~ Not Quite Friday Flyers + WPC – Now 3 ~
It was another stunningly beautiful day outside. Cold, with a heavy frost in the morning, then breezy and brisk as the day progressed. On our walk, Jello and I saw many birds flitting in the trees and thickets; sparrows, finches, siskens and a lovely bright breasted robin.
Though I wasn’t able to catch shots of birds with my iPhone, I did capture these of lovely branches and winter berries set upon a bright blue sky with just a whiff of clouds.
As I lift a glass to auld lang syne, I am grateful for community and I toast the challenges and opportunities we will share in the new year. Cheers!
