~ Lens-Artists Challenge #381: Minimalism + Black-and-White Photography ~

Ritva asks us to stretch our photographic skills this week by presenting minimalist images in Black & White. For a lover of color, this is indeed a challenge! All of the images I’ve selected started as color shots and have been converted to B&W, including monotone shots like this one, taken on a very foggy morning at the Breakers, Long Beach, WA.

The stark silhouette of this Bald Eagle perched on driftwood makes an impactful image.

Brown Pelicans caper in the misty surf at Long Beach, WA. I love how expressive they appear, and this seems the perfect challenge to feature them.

On your walk with life, please honor our earth, encourage dignity and share kindness. 🐾

  1. Lindy, these are wonderful! I really like them all but the eagle on the driftwood is my favorite.

  2. Love the Eagle…but all great

Lindy, you picked dramatic photos for the challenge. I like all photos. You are absolutely correct about the last shot. The pelicans look very expressive.

  4. Tina Schell's avatar Tina Schell says:

You can just hear that bird in your final image Lindy…WOO HOO !!! Loved your choices especially the 2 foggy openers.

  5. I love the photo of the bald eagle. Great shot.

  6. Lindy, it does not look like you are having any trouble with this challenge, these are so good the mist does make wonderful minimalist photography. Bald Eagle is great shot even though it’s not as minimalistic as the shot above it.

  7. I love the first shot. It’s so peaceful. The one with the sun also appeals to me, not that I didn’t like the others, but those two were favorites.
