Ritva asks us to stretch our photographic skills this week by presenting minimalist images in Black & White. For a lover of color, this is indeed a challenge! All of the images I’ve selected started as color shots and have been converted to B&W, including monotone shots like this one, taken on a very foggy morning at the Breakers, Long Beach, WA.

A graceful driftwood branch emerged from dense fog on my morning walk at Long Beach, WA.

The stark silhouette of this Bald Eagle perched on driftwood makes an impactful image.

Lindy, these are wonderful! I really like them all but the eagle on the driftwood is my favorite.
Thank you,Beth. The Eagle seems to be the crowd favorite!
Love the Eagle…but all great
Thank you,David.
Lindy, you picked dramatic photos for the challenge. I like all photos. You are absolutely correct about the last shot. The pelicans look very expressive.
Thank you Egidio. This was another great challenge!
You can just hear that bird in your final image Lindy…WOO HOO !!! Loved your choices especially the 2 foggy openers.
Thank you,Tina. Those first two are long time favorites, I’ve presented before. I’ve learned it’s okay to show the good stuff again on Lens-Artists!
I love the photo of the bald eagle. Great shot.
Thank you!
Lindy, it does not look like you are having any trouble with this challenge, these are so good the mist does make wonderful minimalist photography. Bald Eagle is great shot even though it’s not as minimalistic as the shot above it.
Thank you, Ritva. If I had more advanced software I would have faded the background of the Eagle shot. But I only have the basics of iPhoto!
I love the first shot. It’s so peaceful. The one with the sun also appeals to me, not that I didn’t like the others, but those two were favorites.
Thank you for commenting. I’m glad the first shot brings you peace, and the sun photos is a favorite of mine!
I have similar sun shots in color and I love them, so that one was a natural fit.
