~ Lens Artists Photo Challenge # 125 ~ Renewal ~

Tina offers us a great opportunity to do whatever we want with the challenge. Though my post today is not the most visually appealing, it is what has occupied me for over a week!

Our downstairs music room carpet was stained, worn and ugly. We decided last spring to replace it with Luxury Vinyl Plank which is waterproof and easier to keep clean. This involved moving Creighton’s huge CD collection from the CD shelves into boxes.

Creighton worked diligently packing the collection in a way that he would be able to reassemble it fairly easily when the floor was done and the furniture moved back in.

Last Sunday, my niece, her hubby and two young-adult sons arrived to move the furniture into our garage. All went smoothly, and the price of a couple pizzas was all it cost! I love my family to the moon.

Monday morning the flooring installation crew of two arrived. They removed the old carpet and padding, and by noon the new floor was done and the old was gone.

Tuesday I applied restoratives to the wood of the piano, and other furniture that needed it. Wednesday morning, our neighbor helped us move the heavier furniture into the room, and by Thursday night we were enjoying living in the space again.

Now the harder part begins. Creighton wants to winnow down his collection which represents a lifetime of music appreciation and acquisition. It will take time, and that’s okay. With the pandemic raging in our country, we don’t plan to go anywhere except a trip to the beach before Christmas.

~ Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #124: Now and Then ~

Now – November 28, 2020 on an afternoon walk in the neighborhood, Vancouver, USA

Then – March 4, 2018. A family birthday gathering at my home with my sisters Diana and Lori, and her grandson Micah, three years old.

Three days ago, then/now, Creighton and I had a quiet dinner and watched a couple favorite holiday movies to celebrate Thanksgiving. Jello is the only other family member present!

~ Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #123 ~ Found In the Neighborhood ~

Looking out across 24 acres of dune-meadow-wetland, I am greeted by banks of clouds billowing in from the Pacific Ocean.

Shorebirds were migrating through last week. Several hundred sanderling, plovers and sandpipers, feasted and rested at ebb tide Friday, November 13.

A turbulent ocean coughed up all manner of dismembered jellyfish.

It looks like the four pointed star below, came from a larger jellyfish like the one above.

We set up a hummingbird feeder on our deck and soon had Anna’s visiting on a regular basis. Guess I can say they are our next-door neighbors!

My apologies to Leya and lens-artists for a tardy response. It’s been a wee bit busy in Lindy’s world. Still, I wanted to take this opportunity to share a bit more of my lovely neighborhood at Long Beach, WA ~ USA.

~ Report from the Edge of a Continent ~ Storm Surge ~

Friday morning, November 13: Evidence of a storm brewing. Big clouds stream from the south along our western horizon. Deposits of wave generated sea foam extend along the shoreline at ebb tide.

Sunday, November 15. Yesterday and today, gale force winds averaging 25 mph with gusts as high as 50, accompanied by frequent squalls and downpours, have pummeled the Long Beach Peninsula.

A New Moon King Tide adds to the drama!

Sunday, November 15, 2020 ~ 9:30 a.m.

November 16 – 17, 2020: Monday night the wind and rain were nonstop. Windows were tested, the fireplace moaned, and the barometer dropped to the bottom of its scale. Tuesday morning at low tide, Jello and I ventured out into the rain and wind. Our dunes, beach and Pacific Ocean were still here.

There was a bit of a break in our Tuesday afternoon walk.

~ Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #122: The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow ~ Silver Linings ~

The past few days have been stormy here in Long Beach, Washington USA. Sometimes the cloud formations are stunning, and especially so when the sun peeks through. For this week’s challenge, I offer a series of Silver Linings – signs of hope, as cases of coronavirus continue to rise and we anticipate a leadership change in my country.

“There’s a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.”

Leonard Cohen

“Once you have been in the dark, you learn to appreciate everything that shines.”

Zachary K. Douglas

“We are the silver lining in any and every dark cloud we could ever find. There is no need to go looking for the light when you bring it with you.”

Tyler Knott Gregson

“Too many people miss the silver lining because they’re expecting gold.”

Maurice Setter

Thank you Anvica, for this opportunity to feature the beauty of nature all around us!
