Walking With Eagles is a collection of original poems and photographs by Lindy Low Le Coq. A lifelong naturalist, amateur photographer and bird enthusiast, Lindy’s verse, composition and photographs open a window into the essence of her subjects. Her poems and photography reflect the rich natural wonders of the Pacific Northwest.

Bald Eagles mature over the course of five years. Walking With Eagles invites the reader to take a poetic and visual tour of this odyssey.

~ Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #24: Seasonal Storm ~
We just returned from a week at Long Beach where we were treated to a big winter wind storm, high tides and storm surge. Amazingly, Jello and I were able to get in our morning and afternoon walks, with only one being in a torrential downpour!

From the safety of our deck, the swelling and turbulent surf was stunning to observe.

An adult Bald Eagle, its feathers riffling in the wind, didn’t spend much time on its perch.

This wave chased me back up the berm when it came rushing in while I was engaged in watching the birds!

Stormy ocean spray formed drifts along the shoreline, as the wind whipped away pieces forming rolling balls of foam that swept across the beach.

Black-bellied Plovers, in non-breeding feather, probe for food among drifts of foam.
~ Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #23: Celebrations ~
Over the past few years LT, who lives across the street, and I have hosted gatherings to bring our near neighbors together. Mind you, we come from divergent political positions, some even at pole opposites, however all who attend uphold a tacit agreement to leave our politics at the door. We come together sharing food and spirits, to celebrate being a community that looks out for one another.
This December was my turn to have the holiday gathering. Coming as it did, after the midterm election (the results of which I continue to celebrate), I am pleased that our tradition of civility and good cheer endures.

Cheers to peaceful commemorations of our shared humanity!

~ Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Hot or Cold ~
As I looked through my archived photos, it became clear – finding shots that shout “hot” are harder in black and white! Most that I might have chosen were with bright red or orange tones…
…however, these three captures indicate there is heat being applied!
Cold is much easier to “see” in black and white.

Wishing everyone warmth on chilly winter days!

~ Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #22: Happiness is… ~

…finding a shady spot on a summer day,

…a morning walk and sniff through the dunes,

…helping with the gardening,

…snuggling with my loved ones,

…a romp at the beach,

…hanging out with friends and family,

…and napping by a warm fire!

~ Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #21: Splash! ~
Last week was a whirlwind for me, as I prepared for and hosted a large gathering of neighbors and friends at my home. When I put my head on the pillow Saturday night, I promised myself a day of rest on Sunday which would include posting a response to Lens-Artists Photo Challenge Splash.
