From childhood to this very moment, I’ve loved the bright colors and ‘smiling faces’ of pansy’s (Viola). Today I feature two (though I don’t know the specific variety of either).

This blown-glass vase is a favorite that I found at Orcas Island Pottery years ago. It is a classic shape and its royal blue provides a lovely contrast to the bright yellow flower.

Collage at it’s finest is a repurposing of elements to create a new design. In my early years, I loved making paper collages. Later I gravitated toward found-objects (objet trouvé). This storefront in Long Beach, WA was right up my alley — so to speak!

Last time I drove by, all the objects had been removed. Guess it was a little too funky for the middle of a growing tourist town!

Our weather has been temperate, with sunny days interspersed with cloudy ones. No rain in the forecast, however!

Since I’ve already used my ‘Kids For Sale’ sign as an Odd Ball, here’s the lay of the land near where that photo was taken!

With snow and ice on the roads last winter, this sign took something of a hit.

Thanks to Cee for providing inspiration for posts!

All my life I’ve enjoyed walking across creeks on downed trees, though I never challenge logs unless the stream is shallow or slow enough for me to navigate should I end up in it!

There is something pleasant about plank and foot bridges — perhaps it’s being so near the water.

Living in an area where streams and rivers abound as water wends its way to the nearby Pacific Ocean, bridges are a part of everyday life. My favorite for it’s majesty and sheer engineering mastery is the Astoria-Megler Bridge which I featured in an earlier post.

Here’s to bridges that take you over beautiful waters to happy places!
Hydrangea are at the height of their beauty right now with dazzling blues and soft pinks in abundant mop-head displays. These I planted long before I kept records on varieties!

Echinacea purpurea ‘Magnus’
Also coming on strong are the butterfly attracting blossoms of Coneflower Echinacea purpurea ‘Magnus’, Monarda ‘Prairie Night’ and Prairie Mallow Sidalcea hybrid ‘Brilliant’ (which started out red and has shaded to lavender over the years).

Two posy’s = two vases — both from Orcas Island Pottery.

This sign on the Oysterville end of the Long Beach Peninsula was enough to get me out of the truck for a photo session.

Soon I was ringing the bell to find out more…

…and came home with some nice chèvre!

Here’s to Cee and her Odd Ball Challenge!
