~ Weekly Photo Challenge: Repurposed ~

This fence is made of six-foot high cedar planks mounted on steel posts set into six inches of concrete. Originally meant only to keep the beagle in her own yard, it also provides space for an outside gallery.

In this section I have displayed a rusted out replica metal watering can (perpetually watering the fern below), the steering wheel from a tug boat that plied the Columbia River near here, a bird sanctuary bearing repurposed items, and just beyond it, a hay-harpoon from eastern Washington.

On the march, we passed a small dragon-float representing none other than Big Bother himself!

Attendance at this rally and march is estimated at between 75,000 and 100,000. I am incredibly energized after participating in this event.

~ Frigid Trees ~ Skywatch Friday ~

The snow is almost gone now, just residual piles here and there, but four days ago this is what it looked like in my neighborhood.

I’ve always loved seeing snow-draped evergreens, and the quietness of walking in a winter wonderland.

~ Quiet Sunset ~ Weekly Photo Challenge: Ambience ~

Today’s photograph is one I believe exemplifies ambience — the perception one experiences when enveloped in an environment that impacts our senses and affects our feelings.

In an effort to flood Facebook with the beauty of nature, some of us are posting seven days of nature photos. Part of the fun is to tag another nature-loving photographer to join in. Today I’m inviting Cee Neuner, a photographer living in Canby, Oregon who provides wonderful challenges on her WordPress blog. https://ceenphotography.com/

Cee, if you accept this invitation, please continue the challenge by posting a favorite nature photo on facebook, and inviting another person to join in the fun daily, for the next 7 days.

~ Nature Photo Challenge ~ Day 2 ~

The day is clear and bright, though still freezing and our snow is going nowhere for a while longer! Here is a shot from this morning as the sun was coming up.

In an effort to flood Facebook with the beauty of nature, some of us are posting seven days of nature photos. Part of the fun is to tag another nature-loving photographer to join in. Today I’m inviting David Patterson, an artist friend who lives in Seattle. Though he was a few years younger than me, David went to the same high school as I did, so we both were influenced by our art teacher — Victor Moore.

David, if you accept the invitation, please continue the challenge by posting a favorite nature photo on facebook, and inviting another person to join in the fun daily, for the next 7 days.
