~ Petal Power – Almost Friday Flyers ~

It’s downpour time here in the Pacific Northwest, at the same time my two mature flowering plum trees are in glorious full bloom. Though the light is not the best, I know this is my last chance to get photos of them before upcoming storms strip them clean.

Soon wind and rain will tear away these tender petals, blow them into the air (Friday Flyers!) and leave a carpet of pink ‘snow’ in the front yard.

I love vining plants and amazing trees!

All part of natures harmony as they live, grow and reach for the sun.

~ Tuesday Two by Two -Coptic & Japanese Stab Binding ~

The past two weekends I took classes to learn how to bind journals and books using Japanese Stab and Coptic binding methods. I enjoyed it very much and I’m excited to share my projects, and to use these binding methods in the future.

Four Needle Coptic Stitch

In this workshop we learned to measure, cut and paste fine, long-strand paper to chip board for the front and back covers, cut, fold and stack the plain paper interior ‘signatures’ and punch the works. Then came the four curved needles and the actual stitching to create the braided binding.  So very cool!

~ Flowers in the Hood ~ WPC – Harmony 2 ~

On a recent walk through the neighborhood, flowers brightened the day.

Spring has sprung!

My very favorite season brings harmony to my heart.

~ Weekly Photo Challenge – Harmony + Cee’s Odd Ball ~

This week’s photo challenge asks us to explore the concept of harmony. Whether it’s in music or in life, harmony involves balance, symmetry and congruity: “the quality of forming a pleasing and consistent whole.”

While vacationing at Beach Haven, Orcas Island last October, I took this photo of the front window sill of our cabin. We store our reading and reference books and binoculars here. In the corner to the right side, Creighton keeps his bass guitar at hand. It is a time of deep harmony and peace for both of us.

~ Friday Flyers – Blue Jay Way ~

Stellar’s Blue Jays live in my neighborhood year round. This one, perched high in the bare branches, seemed oblivious to me as I walked under the tree.

If it’s from nature and is in the air (or can get there!) it’s a Friday Flyer!

~ Slice of Life ~ WPC – State of Mind ~

Tonight my mental, physical, spiritual and emotional being feels meshed in a many-layered dance which holds me centered on earth and suspended in time.

I leap, turn, spin, stand still, step back and again find I still face now.
